Liberal Youth Visit to Henley 23rd Jun 2008

Today, Liberal Youth went on a roadtrip to Henley, where Boris Johnson's seat is up for a by-election, to be held on the 26th of this month. With just three days to go, everything was heating up. We arrived at just after 11pm, with Councillor Portia Wilson driving us down.

After a morning spent delivering, folding and stuffing letters, we managed to get our in the late afternoon for some campaigning and door-knocking. Unfortunately, our biggest problem was that people were out. Response on the doors was favourable, even in places the local party told us were traditionally Tory areas. Indeed, most people's complaints was that there was too many election leaflets coming through, from all parties. Well, it's probably better than no campaigning at all.

All in all, a successful and fun day. We got to meet Stephen Kearney, and had a great time meeting everyong in the sunny south (even if Andreas' hayfever did play up towards the end). If you can get down in the next couple of days, do, because every vote will count, and it'll be incredibly close on the 26th.
